Towne

Shipped WebiOS

Towne is an invite-only neighborhood network for the web and iOS, made by Skyriven.

A free, invite-only, ad-free alternative to Nextdoor, on the web and as a native iOS app. No ads, no data sales, and no one's opinion gets silenced. Just real neighbors building real community. Started in Marin County, now in several states. The iOS app, Swift and SwiftUI throughout, shipped as 1.0 two months after the web app: Square, Recs, Events, Market, and a real neighbor directory, all one ZIP code wide.

  • The Square feed for one neighborhood, with a yard sale post, captioned Your neighborhood. Nobody else's.
  • A neighborhood poll on where to hold the fall block party, captioned Ask the whole neighborhood
  • Towne Hall, the opt-in channel for civic and political posts, captioned Every viewpoint has a seat
  • Shared Photos, every photo you have posted in one place, captioned Your photos. Your rules.
  • A post about a little free library, with neighbors' comments, captioned No ads. No data sales.
  • Recs, local businesses recommended by neighbors, captioned Not reviews. Recommendations.
  • A landscaper's page with neighbors' praise, captioned No stars. No ratings.
  • The neighbor directory, captioned Find a neighbor. Not a stranger.
  • A neighbor's profile with a Message button, captioned Real names. Real neighbors.
  • A tag request to approve, reject, or block, captioned Nobody tags you without asking
